The FCX Clarity was chosen from an initial entry list of 22 contenders nominated by 59 World Car jurors from 25 countries worldwide.”The FCX Clarity is a symbol of the progress we have made with fuel cell vehicles and our commitment to developing vehicles that promote renewable energy supplies and zero-emissions transportation,” said Steve Center, vice president, national Marketing Operations for American Honda.

The World Green Car awards were inaugurated in 2003, and officially launched in January 2004, to reflect the reality of the global marketplace, as well as to recognize and reward automotive excellence on an international scale.

Honda doesn’t have any big reveal planned for the New York Auto Show this year, but it does have a vehicle on display that should make one section of the population sit up and take notice. Fido will find himself very comfortable in the back of this Element where a cushioned pet bed is placed on an elevated platform. There are also pet restraint systems fitted to the second row and rear cargo area. An extendable ramp can be used to aid your pooch’s ingress, while a ! 12V DC fan in the rear keeps him cool. A spill resistant water bowl, rubber floor mats covered in a toy bone pattern and second row seat covers with a dog-themed pattern round out Honda’s cadre of canine friendly accessories. Cars.com Names Three Subaru Models Best Bets

Upping the Ante: Three Subaru Models Named “Best Bets” by Cars.com

Cherry Hill NJ, April 2, 2009 — The 2009 Subaru Impreza, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, and Subaru Forester have each been named a “Best Bet” by Cars.com, the leading destination for online car shoppers. According to Cars.com, the two Subaru Imprezas are each a “Best Bet for Sports Cars,” and the Subaru Forester has been recognized as a “Best Bet for SUVs and Crossovers.” To qualify as a Cars.com Best Bet, models must meet three quantified criteria: a “Good” rating in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests; average or higher reliability ratings; and average or higher gas mileage within their class..

“We are proud to accept these awards from Cars.com,” said Tom Doll, COO and executive vice president of Subaru of America, Inc. “The editors who have named the Subaru Impreza and Forester ‘Best Bets’ evaluate scores of vehicles, so this recognition comes from true automotive experts. The Forester and Impreza models offer safety, reliability and performance – and are fun to drive.”.

“Our Best Bets help narrow down the options for buyers by vehicle class,” said Cars.com Editor-in-Chief, Patrick Olsen. “These are vehicles that any of our editors would drive.”

This latest recognition by Cars.com adds to a growing list of accolades for the Subaru Impreza and Forester, both of which were also named 2009 “Top Safety Picks” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Kiplinger’s Personal Finance 2009 Car Buyer’s Guide recognized the 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5X as “Best New Crossover” in the category of “Small Crossovers,” and the 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i as “Best in Class” in the “Wagons and Minivans” category. Other awards received by the 2009 Subaru Forester include: Motor Trend’s 2009 Sport/Utility of the Year; a “good” rating (the highest available rating, indicating a vehicle’s roof is more than twice as strong as minimum federal safety standards require) in the new IIHS roof strength test; the MotorWeek Driver’s Choice Award for Best Small Utility; and the R.L. Polk award for consumer loyalty in the Compact SUV category.

Honda Celebrates Earth Day by Giving Away a 2010 Insight

Honda celebrates Earth Day by giving away a 2010 Insight

What better way to spend Earth Day than with Wild Wing and the new Honda Insight. Wild Wing, as you might know, is the mascot for the Ducks of Anaheim, the Southern California hockey team that plays in the Honda Center. Get the connection now? To help introduce its new hybrid to the public, Honda chose Earth Day to throw a little coming out party at the Honda Center, complete with food, games and prizes. They even set up one part of the parking lot for demonstration drives.

When we first got there we thought we might have been in the wrong place. There were about a dozen Insights lined in a row, but they were the last generation two-seaters. It seems the best place to look for prospects is among owners. After checking out the old ones, we decided to sample the new one. We took a spin around the cones, trying out the ECO mode and paddle shifters along the way. The car is really pretty normal once you get used to the CVT, gauges and teardrop shape. The drive was short but confirmed the car feels like a Honda, with a bunch of tech thrown in. It was a fun event that wasn’t very well publicized so the odds of winning a new Insight were really good.
